BERET+D — research experiences for teachers
Berkeley's BERET+D program gives teachers — and teachers-to-be — the opportunity to work with cutting-edge research and help translate it into lesson plans and classroom materials. Prof. Mäkiharju is the PI of the BERET+D NSF project (award details), which was initiated by Prof. George C. Johnson and Dr. Elisa Stone.

Hallway exhibits at Etcheverry Hall
Since moving to Etcheverry Hall 2115 in summer 2019, we have been building a display of experiments in the second-floor showcase windows. The plan is an interactive touchscreen that lets visitors and students not only learn about what they see, but cause actions — for example, launching waves of their choosing in a 16-ft wave tank visible in the lab's teaching area.
